Reason Act Adjust Framework

Just Do It vs. ReAct: Why Strategy Comes Before Action in AI

Nike’s “Just Do It” is one of the most famous slogans of all time. It inspires us to get moving, to take risks, to act.

And in business, that energy is valuable. Especially with AI, where the potential is huge.

But here’s the catch: when leaders “just do it” without strategy, AI projects often fail. Demos get built, pilots get launched… and then nothing reaches production.

The AI Parallel: ReAct

Interestingly, AI itself has something to teach us here.

There’s a framework in agentic AI called ReAct, which stands for Reason + Act.

Instead of charging ahead blindly, an AI agent:

  1. Reasons about the situation
  2. Acts based on that reasoning
  3. Adjusts as it learns more

This loop – reasoning, acting, adjusting – helps AI systems make better decisions. And it’s exactly what leaders need when it comes to AI adoption.

Why ReAct Works Better Than “Just Do It”

When businesses skip reasoning and leap straight to action, they often:

  • Chase hype instead of solving real problems
  • Burn budget on pilots that don’t scale
  • End up with excitement but no ROI

But when they follow the ReAct mindset:

  • They define the problem first
  • They choose tools that fit
  • They learn and adapt as they go

The Bottom Line

AI success isn’t about moving slowly. It’s about moving smart.

So instead of “Just Do It,” try the ReAct approach: Reason, Act, Adjust.

It works for AI agents… and it works for business leaders too.
